Police And Rangers Surrounded The Residence Of Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar

The standoff between Rangers and Sindh government seems to touch a fresh high after the personnel hailing from paramilitary force and police surrounded the residence of Sindh Home Minister Sohail Anwar Sial in Larkana on Friday evening.

Meantime, at least ten aides of Tariq Sial, who is Anwar Sial’s brother and Asad Kharal, a TMA employee have been rounded up earlier today from different parts of Larkana.

It should be mentioned here that PML-Q leader Babu Sarwar Sial, in a press talk today, leveled allegations that Owais Shah, son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was kidnapped at the behest of the home minister.

The security men clamped a cordon and closely monitored all entry and exit points leading up to and from the home minister’s house.

The standoff between Rangers and the PPP-led Sindh government kick-started earlier this week when paratroopers arrested PPP worker Asad Kharal from Larkana for alleged involvement in corruption worth millions of rupees.

Later on, Kharal was transferred into the custody of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to be probed over charges of corruption worth Rs.500 million.

However, influential people along with their armed guards wrested Kharal from the NAB’s custody.

Rangers personnel who were patrolling the area at the time, were informed and they again apprehended him. This time, he was kept at Civil Lines police station.

The fresh irritant came to the fore today when Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar announced to extend the targeted operation to entire Sindh, saying, “Nobody involved in crime will be spared anywhere in the province.”

The recent decision by the paratroopers attracted intense criticism from the PPP leaders who said the paramilitary force is unable to see entire Pakistan as they are intent exclusively on Sindh.
